Today

Today, I am fifteen weeks pregnant with our first little one. When we found out we were expecting, for me, it was both the most exciting and terrifying day since Warren and I were married. This is definitely a HUGE change. I do tend to love adventure and new things. However, I've never been a mommy before. Weird. I'm a mommy! This is an entirely new thing attached to a lifetime of entirely new things to come. Several of my dear friends are also adding to their families and have just announced the wonderful news. Many have shared Psalm 127:3. Reading the psalm over, I am struck with the preciousness of the life the Lord has formed inside of me.

Psalm 127
 Unless the Lord builds the house,
    those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
    the watchman stays awake in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early
    and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
    for he gives to His beloved sleep.
Behold, children are a gift from the Lord,
     the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
    are the children of one's youth.
Blessed is the man
    who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
    when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

The Lord has built our house. He has watched over us. He gives us rest. He has given us the gift and reward of a child! We are so blessed.

Rosy Cheeks and A Sunny Disposition

Hello life,

How are you? Don't say "fine." That is lame and completely unoriginal. Warren says that I talk to funny things...he laughs at me alot. I don't mind this at all, though. I love him and like making him laugh almost more than anything else in the world. Well, life, we've moved our part of you down to good ol' Austin. It's totally boss down here. To sum up our time so far....

1) Moved to Texas
2) Lived with my fam for about a month and a half
3) Didn't get the job I was sure I had as a cook
4) Warren did transfer his employment successfully
5) Jumped into our new church (amazing)
6) I got a FANTASTIC job as a Nanny and am apparently a natural...(see photo)
7) Moved into our cute little apartment on Saturday

So you see, life, you haven't turned out to be anything like I expected you to be. That's not your doing, of course. That was Jesus. He is cool like that. So I am pretty pleased. The beginning of this adventure has been a challenge for which I am grateful....now (:



The next thing the Lord will probably tackle is me ego! (;

No Other Way

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,

For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;

This hymn has floated around the edges of my memory for the last week as we have remained unsettled here in the city. My parents are gracious and have let us live with them while we figure out how we will live here. My job opportunity fell through. The search continues! Our housing didn't work out. That is on hold until I find a job! Every day is new. We have had some questions and fought off discouragement and fear, as well. But we can really honestly say that it is well with our souls. Jesus is faithful. And yes, He also may be trying to get our attention. We were reminded the other night, reading Proverbs 3, that we can do nothing good in our own strength. We must trust the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. He is the Lord, after all! He is so good to us. We may not know what He is doing. But we know Him. He's good.
