Katelyn Bobbitt is going to England!!

At the Crossroads: Katelyn Bobbitt
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” - Isaiah 61:1

Hello friends and family!
Greetings from Minneapolis, MN! It has been a lightning-fast year, hasn’t it? I have graduated my first year as a student at the Bethany College of Missions, having been sent out of Ecclessia Austin Church. Yep, it’s true! Since my graduation in January, I’ve been serving as an Intercessory Missionary in the Bethany House of Prayer. We have long been familiar with the missionaries who have gone abroad to many nations, bringing the Gospel of Jesus and the healing mercies of ministry in that place. These people have been used greatly by the Lord. He has shaped and challenged me through the legacies of many of them. But even among those who are on the mission field now, the Lord is calling forth new (or not so new) kind of missionary. The call of an Intercessory Missionary (IM) is to partner with God in bringing His kingdom to earth as it is in heaven. That is what I have been doing in this season. Partnering with the BHOP to institute night and day prayer and worship in this region of the U.S.

Diving Deeper in the Transition
Birmingham, England and the Associates Program.

Looking toward the future and what the Lord has for me in it, He has led me to resume my track toward a degree in joining a Global Internship that will take me to Birmingham, England. This is a very exciting step forward for me! In Birmingham, I will be working with an organization called Betel. Betel of Britain is a caring community in the heart of the UK dedicated to restoring homeless and substance-dependent people to productive, independent lifestyles. As I have prayed and approached this step, the Lord has gripped my heart, and that of my team, with a longing to love these people and work with them to bring freedom and restoration to the broken places. We go with a vision. But we also go in humility, as learners of culture, looking forward to gaining experience and wisdom in the field as we work together.

The British are...waiting?!
Just kidding. This has to do with much more than nationality, even if it will play a huge roll in our education. Our team consists of five women. My teammates are Ruth Gregory, Jessica Bright, Autumn Webb, and Elle Klein. We will “invade” England on the 17th of September, 2009. Yes, that is in a very short time. During our time there, we’ve been assured that we will not lack for a challenge (the Internship has been described as “very intense”). We will live as Resident Assistants in a house with women who are recovering from chemical addictions. Our return will be in January of 2010, when we will debrief our Global Internship on the Bethany campus for one week. Following that, we will have acquired our Associates Degrees (A.A) in four months.
My vision is to see lives (including my own) transformed by the power of God as I live the Gospel and answer the call of the Lord on my life. God has called me to be a safe place of inspiration and help, search, and rescue, not in and of myself, but through the grace given me by Him.

I can’t do it alone!

For those of you who know me well, you know that I am a passionate visionary at heart. Thus, it’s with great excitement that I ask you to join my team! In taking this next step, I will be serving the Lord under Bethany International, the sending agency for Bethany College of Missions here in Minneapolis. I am expected to form a team o ministry partners who will support Bethany International with monthly pledges and prayers in order to meet me Internship goals.

The Question...

Would you be willing to pray about and consider this, asking the Lord whether He would have you become a partner in one or both of these areas (financial/prayer)? These are both very necessary roles in advancing the kingdom of God. I would like very much to have you join me in reaching the broken, desperate, hurting, beautiful, homeless people of Birmingham for Christ. The monthly support budget is $571.31. There is also a set-up cost of $2,668.96 that I need to raise as well. Having come on to the team a little late in the game, I should feel hurried in this. But knowing the Lord and His faithfulness, I am trusting Him. He knows what He is doing. Thank you for reading and being interested in what is going on in my life.

Yours in the journey,

Katelyn
